Sunshine Team chooses meetings over leisure time
The Sunshine Team Beach Party this year turned out to be one of the most exciting in the 11-year history of the Ray Clark-sponsored event. When it came time to announce the top award winners, the suspense of who won didn’t let up until the names were called, and then it was celebration time for many.
The most important statistic announced by Ray was that the seven regions that participated attained an average growth of 135 percent in volume over the three months prior to the contest.

Tied for No. 1 in volume and also Lance Sijan Award winners are Taylor Hall, left, and Doug Clark, right, congratulated by Ray Clark.
Two of the races ended in deadlocks. In the battle to see who was No. 1 in highest dollar volume, Florida Alligator Doug Clark, South Carolina Rebel Connie Johnson and Arkansas Diamond Mark Netherton all virtually tied at over 90,000 each.
R.M. Doug Clark of the Alligators and D.M. Taylor Hall of the Georgia Golden Eagles tied for No. 1 dealer by contracts for the three-month contest period. After receiving their plaques for that honor, they were both recognized by Ray for having earned the coveted Lance Sijan Award during the contest period.
The final outcome of both contests will be determined by highest delivery.
There were bunches of Grand, 2-Grand and 3-Grand awards presented during the meeting, in addition to the contest winners. The group actually asked to deviate from the leisure-time plans of the “Sun N Fun” meeting by agreeing to spend two additional hours in the conference room, rather than take advantage of free time.

Top team for August: the Georgia Golden Eagles -- from left, Dave Rich, Taylor Hall, Carlos de los Rios, Host Ray Clark, Mark Baez and R.M. Joel Froeschle.
Ray mentioned that the round-table discussions were better than ever, while the talks by seasoned pros and new dealers were again highly beneficial to all in the sessions. He commended the powerful cadre of speakers, who made the event so valuable: Doug Clark, Joel Froeschle, Wes Shealy, Golden Eagle Dave Rich, and Connie Johnson, who explained how she closes all her orders through the TAP program.

No. 1 team for June and July: the Florida Alligators -- R.M. Doug Clark accepts the plaque, accompanied by team members Doug Young and Chris Peterson.
Regional awards presented included two to Doug Clark as No. 1 in percentage of growth, both in contracts and dollar volume for the contest period. Paul Shawley’s Carolina Panthers had the second highest percentage of growth for the contest period, and Panther new dealer, Bill Bennetti, earned the top Rookie Dealer Award.
The Sunshine Team’s Sales Conference and Sun N Fun Beach Party was even more exciting with Hurricane Ophelia dancing around off the coast of Jacksonville Beach, trying to deicide where it wanted to come ashore. It finally hit in the Carolinas.
